Webster’s Dictionary defines a vision as: “something seen in a dream, trance or: a super natural appearance that conveys a revelation by God.”
The purest of visions
should be drug and alcohol free as to enable the mind to communicate freely with the spirit of God, the knowledge of the Universal Mind or the Higher Power.
When we seek answers to questions that seem unattainable to our conscious mind. The subconscious mind will reveal the answers of this question to us through visions in our dreams. I have had several of these visions and I would like to relate one of these visions that have remained within my memories for several years. The vision was in the late 60’s when I was beginning to practice a spiritual path of meditation that required its followers to be vegetarian.
At the time I was working as a cook in a restaurant that specialized in steak preparation for evening dining. This situation, as you can imagine, was most contradictive and I needed to find other work that would not compromise my meditation. I began looking for some other employment that would not involve the preparation of meat. I searched daily in the news paper want ads and signed up with several Work Daily Employment Agencies. All my efforts failed. As you can see the conscious mind was unable to solve the problem or offer any solutions. At this time I decided to turn it over to the greater powers, be they God, Universal Mind or Higher Power and within a few days the vision came to me in a dream. It must be noted here if it is not in your destiny for change, you must accept the will of God for he is truly in control.
The vision:
I dreamed of a very large Spanish design, wrought iron fence with double gates that were opened and many people were passing through these gates. The atmosphere of the dream was very happy and peaceful. I began to follow the people to see what was within the gates and just when I was about to pass through the gates I woke up. At the time I didn't give much thought to the dream until a few days later when I was driving down a street not far from my home and saw the exact wrought iron fence.
It was set off quite a distance from the main street and I was fortunate to have seen it, as it was hidden by several large trees. As I passed it I realized that it was the same one I saw in my dream. I drove a short distance and turned around and returned to the parking lot were the fence was located. As I began walking towards the gates, I began to feel very happy and peaceful, the same feelings that I had experienced in my dream a few days ago. Passing through the gates I found a beautiful nursery with many colorful plants, flowers and trees of all varieties and sizes. Could this be my answer?
Was this where I was to work?
Had the greater powers finally given the solution?
My heart was pounding and I was having a hard time getting my breath. I walked around for a while regaining my composer and looking at all the beautiful plants and trees. Finally I got enough nerve to ask one of the employees for an application. The man I talk to, as I found out later, was the owner. He said an application wouldn't be necessary and asked if I could start working right now? He would be very thankful for he needed help unloading a semi truck that had just come in with a load of fresh plants that needed to get watered. At that very moment I put all my faith in the vision and thanked God for the answer to my prayers. I began working for the nursery that day. I worked there for about three years and was able to free myself of the contradiction of preparing meat and continued practicing meditation on the spiritual path that I had begun.
