Cherokee Vision - a series about Visions and Dreams - an article by Robert Seagle

Cherokee Vision

In about 1985 I had a vision while I was ill and running a very high
temperature. In the vision I was visited by medicine man and four young
Indian girls. They appeared to be of the Cherokee Indian tribe.

The medicine man wore a black bear robe and was dressed in dear
skin breechclouts, leggings and moccasins. The a bright blend of red,
black and purple colors filled the bedroom. I can remember the bear claw
necklaces and anklets rattling when he walked in. He began sprinkling
something on me from his medicine pouch. It looked like silver glitter as it
gently floated down, after being thrown in the air. He circled my bed
several times and chanted an Indian song of which I have no
knowledge of what he was singing. After he was through with his
chanting he instructed me to have my wife apply some ice to the bottom
of me feet. He then told me that four Indian girls would be placed at each
corner of my bed until this was done and the fever had subsided.

The girls were dressed in one piece dear skin dresses with colors of
turquoise, black and red. Their hair was worn loose without any head
bands or ribbons. They stood very still and did not speak. I called for my
wife and asked her to put some ice on the bottom of my feet, needless to
say, she must have thought I was crazy when I told her that an Indian
medicine man had requested that she did this.

“Ice? okay,” she said, with a doleful shake of her head, as she went
to the kitchen. She returned quickly and applied the ice. When she was
finished and left the room, she was still shaking her head.

The Indian girls stayed with me for a very shot time, as the temperature
broke quickly, after the ice had been applied. When my temperature was
back to normal the girls left the room single file without speaking and
faded out of view. I now have my wife apply ice to the bottom of my feet
when I am running a high temperature, it never seems to fail. My
temperature always returns back to normal.
